MicroMain27 Gen 2 takes Barefoot’s all-in-one monitor concept to new heights. Thomas Barefoot has not rested on his laurels but has spent the last few years further improving and refining one of the world’s best studio monitors.
The new MicroMain27 Gen 2 has the same external shape as its predecessor but is updated with technology originally developed for the top model MiniMain 12. New features include high-quality converters, a 1” ring-radiator tweeter, 5.25” neodymium midbass drivers, AES input, an attenuator with 1 dB steps, and advanced DSP integration.
Speaker emulation
Barefoot has gone to great lengths to utilize DSP processing to emulate the characteristics of classic studio nearfield speakers. Using a non-wireless remote control, you can easily switch between four different speaker types without the hassle of having multiple alternative monitor systems set up.
The 4 settings are
Hi-Fi, which softens the top end and provides a warm midrange typical of consumer hi-fi systems.
Flat is the default setting, which delivers the true, unaltered Barefoot sound.
OldScl captures the essence of the iconic NS10M. The sub-bass and highest highs are attenuated, while the midrange is accentuated.
Cube evokes the classic full-range micro monitor like the Auratone, ideal for simulating sound from laptops, iPods, and phones.
