API 3124V 4-Channel Microphone Preamplifier
The API 3124V is a premium 4-channel microphone preamp designed for professional engineers who demand the legendary API sound in a compact and flexible format. Built on the foundation of the acclaimed 3124+, the 3124V adds enhanced features such as Variable Output Level Control and a 3:1 output transformer tap, making it even more versatile for both studio and live applications.
Equipped with API’s RE-115 K mic input transformer and proprietary output transformer — along with the iconic 2520 op amps — the 3124V delivers the unmistakable warmth, punch, and headroom that has made API preamps a staple in professional audio for decades.
Each channel provides up to 65 dB of gain, with switchable phantom power, polarity, and -20 dB pad right on the front panel. The Hi-Z instrument inputs, also on the front, bypass the input transformer and go directly into the op amps, allowing low-level sources like guitar and bass to be amplified cleanly and with character — no DI box required. These inputs can handle levels up to +20 dBu, making them ideal for keyboards and high-output instruments as well.
