The API The BOX is back - redesigned and improved in this second-generation version that expands its capabilities while preserving the signature API console sound that made the original a favourite among professional producers and engineers. Offering the punch, clarity, and musicality of API's large-format consoles in a compact footprint, The BOX is the ideal analogue centrepiece for hybrid studios, project rooms, and high-end personal setups.
The updated model now features eight input channels, each with its own API mic preamp, line input, and high-pass filter, as well as eight 500 Series slots for total integration of your favourite modules. Channels 1-4 also include instrument DI inputs, making The BOX a versatile choice for tracking everything from vocals to guitars and synths.
Mixing is where The BOX truly shines, offering 16 analogue summing channels expandable to 24 during mix. Each summing channel is equipped with a dedicated 0dB bypass switch-a feature so effective it's been included in API's flagship 1608-II and 2448 consoles. The mix bus is supported by an onboard stereo bus compressor (assignable to channels 1-4 or the stereo programme bus), and 4-segment LED meters for visual level monitoring across all channels.
With its comprehensive monitor section (supporting two stereo speaker systems), talkback system, solo modes (PFL, AFL, SIP), and stereo cue and aux sends, The BOX delivers professional-level workflow in a streamlined form factor. Rear panel connections include full balanced I/O, and an internal power supply ensures reliable and quiet operation in any studio environment.
