Type Redd Microphone from EMI/Abbey Road/Chandler continues the rich tradition of innovation at EMI. The traditions at EMI go back to the early 1930s with Alan Blumlein developing Stereo and many other things. Produced by Chandler Limited and Abbey Road Studios, the Redd Microphone is the first new EMI badged microphone in over half a century. While the Redd microphone oozes “golden age” and the aesthetic is unmistakably classic, it is definitely not a U-Type clone, it is completely its own. The REDD Microphone represents a shift in traditional microphone design, bringing together classic microphone design and the historic EMI REDD.47 preamp circuit in a unique way. REDD Microphone is a large-diaphragm tube condenser microphone that combines microphone and preamp into a single, hand-crafted professional recording unit. The tube-based REDD.47 preamp is connected in direct connection with the microphone circuit and can therefore be used with or without an external preamp. The REDD Microphone is equipped with a custom capsule which, in combination with the REDD.47 preamp, gives it a fantastic full, detailed and silky smooth sound that exudes character and smoothness. The REDD.47 preamp provides nine choices, from 4 to +33dB in ‘NORM’ position, extended gain and punch in ‘DRIVE’ mode for more tonal and coloring options, switchable kidney / omni patterns, 10dB Pad, and phase inversion. Continuous output control and low contour function are available from high quality external power supply. Chandler – EMI / Abbey Road Studios – REDD MICROPHONE comes with:
- Shock mount
- 25 foot Mogami microphone cable
- PSU
- Suitcase for transport.
