MASSIVE PASSIVE is a two-channel, four-band equalizer with added high pass and low pass filters. By “passive” we mean that the tone generation in the clever new EQ design does not use any kind of active circuitry – it’s a bit like a Pultec EQ on hyper-steroids.
The mastering edition
Here the filters have been changed and placed a little deeper and higher, so they are better suited to a mastering situation. The master gain knobs are in fixed steps with 11 positions with ½ db change per step.
Natural methods
Creating a natural, organic sound can only really be done by using an EQ that processes the signal with natural methods. Massive Passive uses simple passive components and exploits their natural qualities rather than letting a complex circuit force the signal in a particular direction. Compared to other units, the Massive Passive allows you to use much more EQ with much less coloration.
