The Rupert Neve Shelford 5051 belongs to Neve’s Shelford series of monitors.
The 5051 combines the classic three-band EQ based on Rupert’s vintage design with the power and flexibility of the Portico II compressor.
The 5051 utilizes a fully discrete, Class-A signal path and high-performance input and output transformers.
The 5051 delivers the performance and musicality expected from a Rupert Neve design.
The EQ design of the 5051 evokes sonic similarities to some of Rupert’s classic EQs. About the Rupert Neve Shelford series 50 years ago, Mr. Rupert Neve created the Shelford series.
In a converted vicarage in Little Shelford, England, Mr. Rupert Neve created a series of preamp and EQ designs that revolutionized the sound of recorded music.
Now based in Wimberley, Texas, Rupert and his team of engineers have carefully combined the very best of these classics with contemporary concepts and components to create the high-voltage Shelford Series.
The heart of the Shelford Series lies in their Class A, discrete, +/- 24V topologies, built from custom transformers and inductors.
Rupert has carefully engineered them to sound similar to his famous 80 series channel modules that he developed during his time at Shelford (1073, 1064, 1081 etc.).
This has resulted in Shelford Series designs that capture Neve’s classic sound and depth and soul, without compromise.
The EQ section in particular is inspired by Rupert’s earlier designs, and features a 3-band EQ based on the highlights of the classic modules.
