General information about the Rupert Neve Shelford series
50 years ago, Mr. Rupert Neve in a converted vicarage in Little Shelford, England a series of preamp and EQ designs that revolutionized the sound of recorded music. Rupert and his team of engineers, now based in Wimberley, Texas, have carefully combined the very best of these classics with contemporary concepts and components to create the high-voltage Shelford Series model. The heart of the Shelford series lies in their class A, discrete, +/- 24V topologies, built up from custom transformers and inductors. Rupert has carefully engineered them to be sonically similar to his famous 80 series channel modules that he developed during his time at Shelford (1073, 1064, 1081 etc.). This has resulted in Shelford Series designs that capture Neve’s classic sound and depth and soul, without compromise.
The EQ section is particularly inspired by Rupert’s previous designs, and features a 3-band EQ based on the highlights of the classic modules.
