API TCS-II Channel Strip
The API TCS-II is a premium all-in-one channel strip that brings together some of API’s most iconic analog modules into a single, compact rack unit. Designed for engineers who demand the unmistakable API sound with modern flexibility, the TCS-II includes a mic preamp, compressor, 3-band EQ, output level control, and advanced signal routing — all with the quality and character you’d expect from API’s legacy of high-end recording consoles.
At the core of the TCS-II is the renowned API 512c Mic Preamplifier, offering Mic, Line, or Instrument input selection for versatile source handling. Following that is the powerful API 527A Compressor with adjustable Threshold, Ratio, Attack, and Release via detented pots. The compressor also features API’s patented THRUST® circuit for delivering tight, punchy low end and aggressive dynamic control — perfect for vocals, drums, and more.
Next in the signal path is the revered API 550A 3-Band Equaliser, one of the most celebrated EQs in recording history. With switchable frequencies, ±12 dB of boost or cut, and shelf/peak options on the high and low bands, the 550A provides precision tone shaping with musical results. A switchable bandpass filter (50 Hz – 15 kHz) adds further control.
At the output stage, the API 325 Line Driver provides the final gain stage, complete with a 10-segment LED meter and output mute switch. The meter can also be toggled to display the output of the preamp section for more detailed monitoring. Rear panel patch points and multiple balanced inserts make it easy to integrate the TCS-II into any professional studio or live rig.
