Originally developed for console use with unbalanced inputs and limited panel space, the 5500 expands upon the classic design with balanced inputs and outputs, a noise-free internal power supply, and additional features that make it highly suitable for both mixing and mastering applications.
At the heart of the 5500 are two classic API 550b EQ circuits, offering the unmistakable API tone that has shaped countless hit records. The unit includes range switches on both channels, allowing users to toggle between standard and reduced gain steps - perfect for the precision required in mastering environments. With the flick of a switch, the 5500 can function as a 550b, 550D, or 550M, making it one of the most versatile EQs in API's lineup.
Each channel includes a peak/shelf selector</strong on the high and low bands, a true hardwire bypass for signal integrity, and a dedicated EQ In/Out switch.
