R-121 Studio Ribbon Microphone – the standard among ribbon microphones. The Royer 121 came on the market back in 1998, and is today a studio standard within ribbon microphones. It is a favorite for recording electric guitar or brass, but its special sound is widely used for recording e.g. vocals and acoustic guitar. The award-winning R-121 is Royer’s flagship microphone; The world’s first radically re-engineered ribbon microphone, reintroducing ribbon microphones to studios around the world. Royer removed all the awkwardness and fragility that characterized “classic” ribbon microphones, and went in a completely new direction. The R-121 provides all the warm and natural sound characteristic of ribbon microphones, but in a compact, lightweight, high-output package previously unheard of with a ribbon microphone. In its almost 20 years on the market, thousands of the R-121 have been sold worldwide, and is well established as a standard for electric guitar and brass tracking. NB, it is a good idea to purchase the Sling-Shock RSM-SS1 as seen in the last picture. Specifications
