API 565 Filter Bank – 500 Series
The API 565 Filter Bank is a highly musical and flexible 500 Series filtering module, designed with circuitry based on the legendary API 215 filter section found in classic API console modules. Ideal for creative tone shaping, problem-solving, or surgical filtering, the 565 brings studio-grade precision and API’s unmistakable analog warmth to your signal chain.
At the core of the 565 is a suite of powerful filtering tools, including a sweepable high-pass filter (20Hz – 400Hz) with selectable -12 dB or -18 dB/octave slopes, and a sweepable low-pass filter (500Hz – 20kHz) with selectable -6 dB or -12 dB/octave slopes. Each section includes individual bypass switches for true A/B comparisons and flexible workflow.
The 565 also features a fully sweepable notch filter (20Hz – 20kHz) with an adjustable Q control, allowing for precision attenuation of problem frequencies — ideal for taming resonances, eliminating hum, or creative sound design. Whether you’re cleaning up a vocal, sculpting a synth, or isolating a frequency range for live sound, the 565 provides surgical control in a musical, analog format.
Internally, the API 565 is built using API’s fully discrete circuit design, featuring the same 2520 and 2510 op amps and discrete transistor buffers used in API’s revered 550 series EQs. A transformer-balanced output ensures high headroom operation, with a maximum output level of +28 dBu.
